Fruit of the Vine fountain pen

ZAR9,000.00

Hanna Farmer is fortunate enough to live in one of the finest wine making areas in South Africa, if not on the planet. Just a short drive away is the Hemel en Aarde valley, which translates to Heaven and Earth. And the wine from the area really does taste like heaven on earth. The region no doubt inspired her Fruit of the Vine painting, which depicts people pruning vines, harvesting grapes, two saucy maidens lifting their skirts as they trample the grapes, a horse-drawn cart, a cooper making a barrel and a village up on the hill. The story comes full circle with the Fruit of the Vine, shown as a carafe of wine, a bottle of bubbly on ice, two full glasses, a wedge of cheese and a hunk of bread.

Hanna’s use of a range of greens, from lime green in the foreground to sage green in the distance, inspired the choice of a deep emerald for the grip section. This fountain pen has a silver cap band, section ring and logo embedded in the cap finial.

Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is an original work of art. You are also more than welcome to contact us with a request for a commissioned fountain pen by Hanna in a unique theme of your own.

The Jabulani model

SPECIFICATIONS

This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.
