The Black Swan hand-painted fountain pen

This fountain pen is a tribute to the film, Black Swan starring Natalie Portman, and to the moral of the story behind the film. We are thrilled that this pen is featured in the current issue of Pen World Magazine.

The images on the barrel depict the dancer striving for that flawless performance as the white Swan Princess, yet also needing to be more loose and open and vulnerable, hence the naked ballerina. It also shows how the stresses of trying to achieve multiple roles in our lives can lead to cracks forming. The cap shows the Black Swan eclipsing the Swan Princess, symbolizing how one side invariably overpowers the other.

Self-taught artist Brandon Lodewyk drew the Black Swan in pencil, ranging from 2B to 12B. (The photographs show the pen in ‘color’ and again in black and white, as the monochrome effect shows the details to better effect.)

This pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, illustrated by Brandon in graphite, then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. We have added a black grip section, as well as a silver section ring, and our logo medallion (in silver) embedded in the cap finial.

Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is a 1/1 original work of art. No-one else will ever own an identical pen.
